HEC has teamed up with Coursera to give Pakistani youth free training: Through the Digital Learning and Skills Enrichment Initiative, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has started the third phase of its partnership with Coursera. This is part of its long-term plan to teach Pakistani youth the skills that will be in high demand in the future job market (DLSEI).
In 2018, HEC and Coursera worked together to start DLSEI. In the first two phases of the program, 12,000 students spent a total of 0.25 million hours learning online. Some of the industry’s most popular courses are project management, data analytics, programming, social media marketing, and “soft skills” like negotiation, communication, public speaking, and presentation.

In the third phase of DLSEI, which will happen in 2023, HEC will help the young people of Pakistan improve their skills by giving them free access to 5,300 online courses and 3,400 guided projects on Coursera in 11 different areas. This will make it easier for a lot of people all over the country to get high-quality training in digital and human skills quickly.
Chairman of HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that the HEC-Coursera partnership’s goal is to ensure that as many online certifications and courses as possible are available to Pakistani youth to help them improve their skills.
He promised that HEC and Coursera would strengthen their partnership by building on what they had already done in a “building blocks” style. “Let’s work together to help people by teaching useful skills to young people,” he said.
The chairman said that HEC thinks education can be used as a form of diplomacy to help solve problems that don’t care about borders. He asked local universities to use the Coursera courses and give students who took those courses extra credit.

Automation and the pandemic have changed the job market in ways that require young people to have new skills. Coursera is proud to work with HEC to give Pakistan’s next generation of talented people the skills and credentials they need to make as much money as they can in the digital economy.

He said that it’s good to see that HEC is responding to important trends by making it easier for young people to get an education and skills that will help them get better jobs.

As of September 30, 2022, 110 million people had signed up to use Coursera, which is a global online learning platform. Its goal is to make sure that everyone can learn at a high level.
Coursera works with more than 275 top universities and companies, like Yale, Stanford, Google, IBM, and Microsoft, to offer a wide range of content and credentials, such as guided projects, courses, specializations, certificates, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and more.
Coursera has helped more than 7,000 institutions train and retrain their employees, citizens, and students in high-demand fields like business, technology, and data science.
